Alfred H. Makhanian {1932 - 2009}

Al was Taja's uncle - twice removed - from her stepdads side of the family.  Al was the owner of the Direct Home Shopping Network and owner of Glendale Studios in Los Angeles, CA.

Al was born Alfred H. Makhanian on June 19, 1932 in Los Angeles, CA. He passed away at 5:45pm on November 15, 2009 in Burbank, CA.  He had been diagnosed with stage 5 lung cancer just months before his death when the cancer was noticed to have already taken over much of his lung capacity making breathing a chore for the remainder of his life.  He was a wonderful comedic man that brought smiles to many of us through the years.  He was involved with several charities, his favorite being World Bible Society.  He was survived by his children: Natalie Sugimoto, Steven Makhanian, Cynthia Kent and David Makhanian, and his wife of almost 40 years, Anna Lee Makhanian. Our love goes out to AnnaLee in this rough time.

Al’s Memorial Service was held Monday 11/23/09 at 12:00 noon at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Hollywood, California.

In lieu of flowers, Al would like donations to:

Christopher Michael McEntyre {1981 - 2008}

Chris died 8/20/08.
He was one of my best friends right out of high school.  I always hoped we would get back in touch one day. He had been struggling for some time now with tumors on his spinal cord which severely limited his movement.  He passed away from a blood clot in his leg that went straight to his heart.  He has a son, Jake who is 3 years old.  Chris will be dearly missed. -Taja Beiber

Dorothy Enderle-Groat {1926 - 2006}

Dorothy is Taja's Grandpa Ed's sister; she is Taja's great aunt.

When I was younger, she lived in Morro Bay and we would visit her every year in her mobile home by the beach.  We would go to shell shops, etc.  I always remembered her for being very outspoken and stubborn; but in a good spirited fun way.  She came to live in Bakersfield after she had a debilitating stroke that left her unable to care for herself completely.  She came to live in a home for people with these kind of problems. This stroke didn't take away her spirit.  She and a man she met inside ran away from the home and escaped to Rockin' Rodeo where they partied and then I believe married soon after.  That was Dorothy.  She past away mid year in 2007; I do not have all of the exact details as I do not remember the dates... I am trying to get the details for this tribute.

Justine Louise Gamble {1933 - 2003}

Cris's Maternal Grandmother

Justine Louise Gamble

Mar. 12, 1933 Sept. 13, 2003

Justine was born at her grandmothers home in Independence, Missouri. Her life as a small town girl ended when she married Bobby Joe Gamble in September of 1952. Following the birth of her first son, Michael Conrad Gamble, she left Missouri and began a thirty-year adventure traveling the world accompanying her husband, a chemical engineer, to many strange and exotic places. She moved to Bakersfield to be close to her grandchild following the death of her husband in 1996. Throughout her life she was a compassionate caring person always putting others first before herself. Her passing was peaceful and we were all very blessed that she could be in her own home surrounded by her family and friends right up to the end. We will miss her terribly but know that she is at peace and in Gods hands now.

Justine is survived by her only brother, Jerold Bean of Bakersfield, CA; her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Mitchell and her family of Kansas City, MO; her three children, son, Michael Conrad Gamble of Bakersfield, CA; daughter, Susan Lee Meadows and her husband, Craig Meadows of Bakersfield, CA; son, Shawn Allan Gamble and his wife, Claudia Gamble of FL; and the pride of her life her three beloved grandchildren, grandson, Brian R. Meadows and his wife, Janet Meadows, grandson, Cristopher M. Meadows and granddaughter, Sara L. Meadows of Bakersfield. Justine leaves the legacy of a strong and independent family whose love and faith will endure to carry on for generations to come.

Services are to be held at the Unity Church of Bakersfield on E Street, Thursday, September 18, at 3 p.m.
